Brian brings extensive experience evaluating philanthropic impact, and managing strategic grant making initiatives.  Prior to joining Whittier, Brian served as the Director of Philanthropic Planning for the Marin Community Foundation.   He also served 10 years as Executive Director for a social service agency providing mental health, residential treatment and special education services.

Kathryn Dresslar

Consultant to the Program Director

Kathryn has extensive and wide-ranging experience in Sacramento and on children’s issues.  She has served as Chief of Staff for Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, Director of Governmental Affairs for the Children’s Partnership, and Senior Policy Advocate for the Children’s Advocacy Institute.   She was presented the Unsung Hero Award by Youth Law Center in 2014.

Sai Ling Chan Sew, LCSW

Consultant to the Program Director

For over 35 years, Sai Ling has been a strong advocate for under-served children with behavioral health issues and innovative developer of culturally appropriate programs.  She began her career as a Psychiatric Social Worker in San Francisco before becoming the Program Director of the Chinatown Child Development Center.  From 1995 – 2011, Sai Ling has been the Director of Children’s Behavioral Health Services for the San Francisco Department of Public Health.  She was inducted to the University of Southern California (USC) Social Work Hall of Distinction in 2013.
